Banished Knight's Greatsword is a melee armament found in ELDEN RING ⁽²⁰²²⁾.

Description

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇯🇵

A finely-crafted greatsword intricately engraved with an ancient motif. Given to knights who, whether by misfortune or misdeed, were forced to abandon their homes.

Most of these knights were sent to the fringes, where they were forced to start anew with only despair for company.

Acquisition

Drop: Stormveil Castle / Cathedral of Dragon Communion ^(Caelid) / Castle Sol ^{(Mountaintops of the Giants)}

• 4% drop chance from sword-and-shield Banished Knights.
  • A lone sword-and-shield Banished Knight can be found outside of the southwestern exit from Cathedral of Dragon Communion, patrolling around the Cathedral.
  • Heading southwest down the tower from the Rampart Tower Site of Grace in Stormveil Castle leads to a halberd-wielding Banished Knight. Another, sword-and-shield-wielding knight can be found by continuing down the tower and dropping down one of the wooden walkways to the floor below, making it possible to farm the Banished Knight's Halberd at the same time.
• 7.8% drop chance from dual-sword Banished Knights.
  • These are the rarest variant of Banished Knight, and are found only in Castle Sol and Crumbling Farum Azula.
  • Technically the drop chance per Greatsword is still only 4%, but as they can have a chance to drop it twice the drop chance is effectively increased.

Notes

• Uses a unique, more vertical Greatsword two-handed light attack moveset derived from Dark Souls 2's Mirrah Greatsword and shared with the Knight's Greatsword and the Inseparable Sword.
  • This gives it a unique attack combo, where a two-handed jumping light attack followed by a two-handed regular light attack makes it impossible to dodge the second hit if the first hit lands.
• Overall Strength-leaning, especially compared to the more Dexterity-leaning Knight's Greatsword.
• Overall one of the strongest infusable Greatswords.

Trivia

• The Japanese name 失地騎士 (shicchi kishi), literally meaning "knights who have lost their land to an enemy," implies that the Banished Knights have been driven from their homeland by force.
• The weapon that Smithing Master Hewg is smithing seems to be one of these swords.
• This is one of the weapons where the Affinity prefix gets placed in the middle of the weapon name (between "Knight's" and "Greatsword" in this case) instead of at the front.
