Caligo, Miasma of Night, also called Fissure in the Fog, is a boss in Elden Ring: Nightreign and one of the Nightlords.
Overview
From the phantasmal peak upon which she hid herself, she peered down into the world, committing to memory what she perceived. Then, her eye drawn to a certain cataclysm, from out of hiding she leapt with wings unfurled. For she wished to know and to understand, first hand, just what fortunes and misfortunes the disaster would bring upon the world. [1]
Behavior
Caligo's breath attack deals magic damage and builds up frostbite and creates blue crystals on the ground that explode for more frostbite buildup if stepped upon.
Any time frostbite is inflicted during Caligo's fight, the player's frostbite resistance reduces by 15, making it easier to suffer frostbite again.
When Caligo shrouds her location in a dense mist, one of two attacks are being telegraphed:
- She creates a giant ice disk above the arena which will eventually shatter into falling shards. Avoid by running away from the disk or running up to Caligo, as there is a safe zone in her immediate vicinity.
- Caligo beings drawing in cold winds towards her, and also generates large ice pillars. She will eventually unleash a giant burst of frigid wind, and players must take shelter from it by positioning themselves against those pillars.
Once Caligo is at half health, she enters phase 2 where she gains a new attack, where she takes to the skies and flies back and forth over the battlefield, showering the party in ice shards for every pass over them.
Ice crystals also begin forming intermittently on the battlefield without Caligo's active input.
Strategy
Dealing enough Fire damage will cause Caligo to stagger and inflict a defense debuff on her for 30 seconds.
Caligo counts as an Ancient Dragon, and suffers the same Weaknesses.
Completing the Mountaintop Shifting Earth gives the players an anti-dragon buff to their attacks, reduced frostbite buildup, and increased attack whenever frostbite is inflicted on anyone nearby. This contributes to both survival and fight progression.

Expedition Raid
Caligo's raid is only available in expeditions exclusive to The Forsaken Hollows DLC.
Caligo announces her entrance with an ice storm that obscures the players' vision with a thick fog. Intermittently, they will be showered by ice crystals that deal damage and build up frostbite.
To complete this event, track down Caligo, whose location is indicated by the translucent red oval. A single strike on Caligo will get her to depart.
Completion of this raid grants each player a buff that, on the next time they would take lethal damage, will cause them to dodge the attack and temporarily turn invisible.
