Dexterity (技量, Giryō) is one of the main attribute stats in ELDEN RING (2022).

Attribute required to wield advanced armaments.
Also boosts attack power of dexterity-scaling armaments, reduces casting time of spells, softens fall damage, and makes it harder to be knocked off your horse.

Elden Ring explanation.

The Tarnished's Dexterity stat affects which weapons they can wield effectively and affects the damage output of weapons which have Dexterity scaling. Increasing Dexterity will also decreased the Tarnished's casting time with spells as it raises, with 70 Dexterity being the hardcap in order to achieve maximum casting speed on any spell. Fall damage will also be reduced as Dexterity raises past 21.

The Tarnished can level Dexterity by spending Runes at Sites of Grace.

Fall Damage

Dexterity has a secondary effect of slightly reducing the amount of fall damage the player takes when they fall from a certain height (at least 16 meters but less than 20 meters). Dexterity starts reducing fall damage at 21 and the effect caps at 99.

It should be noted that Dexterity does not increase the distance one can fall before taking damage, just reduce the amount of damage taken. A 20 meter fall will also always kill the player regardless of their dexterity.

Dexterity Fall Damage Multipler
20 Dexterity and below No effect; player will take maximum damage from a fall.
35 Fall damage multiplier is reduced to 0.9x damage.
99 Fall damage multiplier is reduced to 0.8x damage.

Virtual Dexterity

Virtual Dexterity is a hidden modifier in Elden Ring and a returning mechanic from Dark Souls III. Virtual Dexterity is a modifier added to certain weapons and items that raises the player's Dexterity stat, but only for the purpose of increasing their casting speed. Virtual Dexterity does not affect any other Dexterity-related mechanic such as weapon requirements, fall damage reduction, or Attack Power bonuses from scalings.
