Discus of Light is an incantation spell in Elden Ring. It is one of the Golden Order Incantations.

Description

One of the incantations of the Golden Order fundamentalists.

Produces a ring of light and fires it forwards. The ring of light returns to a position close to the caster before disappearing. This incantation can be cast repeatedly.

A gift from the young Miquella to his father, Radagon.

Acquisition

Purchase: Roundtable Hold / Altus Plateau / Leyndell, Royal Capital / Mountaintops of the Giants

  • Sold for 11,000 Runes by Brother Corhyn after he moves to Goldmask's location in Altus.
  • Should Corhyn die before purchasing this incantation after moving to Goldmask's location, then the player can still purchase it from the Twin Maiden Husks for the same price after giving them Corhyn's Bell Bearing.
    • WARNING: If Corhyn dies before this incantation appears in his inventory then it will become unavailable for that character until a new Journey is started.

Effect

Throws out a ring of light with Holy Attack Power equal to 150% of Incantation Scaling and going through foes, stopping when it reaches its maximum range or hits an object.

The ring begins to return to the caster shortly after arriving at its destination, having the same Attack Power for its attack against all foes it passes through.

Notes

  • Costs 20 points of Stamina to cast.
  • Attack Power is boosted by 10% per Golden Order Seal held in an active hand (2 max) and by 15% per Dryleaf Seal held in an active hand (2 max).
    • Since it's possible to acquire both of these Seals in one Playthrough, it's one of a few spells able to stack Seal boosts (for a total boost of 27% in this case).
  • Wearing the Radiant Gold Mask increases Attack Power by 10%.
  • Effectively has Attack Power roughly equal to 300% of Incantation Scaling per cast since it will very often hit the main target on the way back.
  • Several rings can be out at the same time, making the spell very spammable.
  • Pairs well with the Erdtree Greatshield's skill Golden Retaliation and the Ash of War: Carian Retaliation since the timing of the returning ring is very predictable and will trigger the spell-parry-into-projectile part of those skills.
  • Can be cast while riding Torrent, further extending the incantation's usability and ability to be spammed.
  • The caster takes a short step forwards each time the spell is cast. While many steep falls prevent a character from stepping over them from movement caused by Skills, Spells, and Weapons, it's still good to be a bit careful.
  • Though it goes through all enemies it will not ignore the damage reduction from an enemy that is keeping its guard up if they are guarding in the direction it's flying from.
    • Note that it will still fly through said guarding enemy and will hit their unprotected back when returning unless said enemy turns around in between the two hits.

Trivia

  • Patch 1.07 reduced FP and stamina consumption, increased the range, speed, and duration of the halo, and increased casting speed.
    • Decreased FP cost from 9 to 3.
  • Patch 1.04 decreased FP cost, increased damage, and cast speed.
    • Decreased FP cost from 11 to 9. Attack Power was increased from 114% of Incantation Scaling to 150% of Incantation Scaling.
