Elden Lord
Elden Lord is a title held by multiple characters in Elden Ring.
Overview
The title of Elden Lord was given to the consorts of Queen Marika the Eternal.[1] What power and authority the Elden Lord wields is unclear, as is the nature of the relationship between an Elden Lord and their deity. In the case of the consorts of Queen Marika, they appear to have been able to wield the power of the Elden Ring to an unknown extent.[2]
The most ancient known holder of the title is Dragonlord Placidusax, said to have been Elden Lord in the time before the Erdtree.[3] Despite this, Godfrey is referred to as the first Elden Lord[4], being the first consort of Queen Marika. After Godfrey was banished from the Lands Between, King Consort Radagon left his wife Rennala and returned to Leyndell, becoming Marika's second husband and taking the title of second Elden Lord.[1]
After the shattering of the Elden Ring, Marika and Radagon were both imprisoned within the Erdtree. The Demigods, tainted by the strength of their Great Runes, went to war over the title of Elden Lord, but none succeeded.[5] Subsequently, the Tarnished were called back to the Lands Between, guided by Grace, to seek the shards of the Elden Ring and claim the title of Elden Lord.[6]
If the Tarnished succeeds in accessing the Erdtree and opts to repair the Elden Ring, they will become Elden Lord, joining Marika as her consort.[7] However, Marika is found in a shattered and unresponsive state, seemingly merely a shell containing the Elden Ring. The Tarnished may choose to imperfectly restore the Golden Order and rule over an Age of Fracture, or add one of three Mending Runes to establish a new Age.
