Eochaid is a mentioned location in ELDEN RING (2022). It is a lesser, long-vanished domain and was a land of proudly solitary ascetics.

Overview

Eochaid has been defined by its warriors, their swords of copper-hue and their unique battle arts. Their blades can dance through the skies from the power of their will alone, the copper-coloration of their weapons (not to be confused with rust) being the conduit of this ability.[1] The state is said to have vanished long ago.

People

While little is known of its people and customs, Eochaid is described as a land of "proudly solitary ascetics" and the only known character hailing from it is Elemer of the Briar, a hunter of merchants and instructors alike specifically for their bell bearings. It can be inferred that the people of this land view companionship, collaboration and other benefits gained from social interactions as a form of hedonistic indulgence that must be discarded in order to focus on the self and better pursue spiritual goals.

Trivia

  • The name "Eochaid" comes from the Irish Gaelic male name "Eochaid" or "Eochaidh", which itself comes from the Old Irish word for horse "ech". In modern Irish, "each" (pronounced "akh") is the formal word meaning horse.[2] While pronunciation by region and dialect varies, Eochaid is generally pronounced [YO-khid] or similarly.
