Passive AbilityTenacityCharacter SkillCursed Blade / SuncatcherUltimate ArtAspects of the Crucible: Beast
Executor is one of the initial eight playable Nightfarers in ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN.[1]
Description
Executor
This condemned soul, with a body fused with pieces of armor, went missing after a prison stint in the Lands Between. Brandishes a cursed blade and savors every battle.
Boasts high dexterity and arcane, and is unrivaled in one-on-one fights while armed with his cursed sword.
Preference: Katana
Overview
A condemned warrior who wields a cursed katana. He is adorned in red-gold armor and his helmet features the symbol of the torrent of life also featured on Devonia's Hammer.[1]
The Executor is a Dexterity-based melee combatant who excels in one-on-one combat. Boasting the highest Arcane of the initial eight Nightfarers (only surpassed by the Scholar), he is well-suited to inflicting ailments. His katana comes with an innate Bleed infliction and can be modified to have inflict additional ailments at the same time, and other weapons that inflict ailments that are obtained during the run will also serve him well. His Cursed Sword is his primary defensive option, trading his mobility for the ability to deflect enemy attacks, nullifying them at little stamina cost. For extremely tough enemies or dense crowds, he can also invoke his Aspect of the Crucible, transforming into a giant wolf with wide-sweeping attacks that can tear apart hordes of enemies.
The Executor is a little more fragile than the likes of the Wylder or Raider, so there is less room for error with missed dodges or ill-timed attacks, but proper shifting in and out of his defensive stance can greatly compensate for this and make him a great asset in a boss fight.
Abilities
Passive Ability: Tenacity
Receive boost after recovering from status ailments. Effect boosts attack and stamina recovery speed.
- After recovering from an ailment, the Executor has +20% attack power and +8 stamina recovery per second, for 20 seconds.
- Triggers either from the ailment finishing its duration or by healing the ailment through use of a skill or item.
- If the Executor suffers from Bleed, Sleep or Madness, this buff applies itself immediately.
Character Skill: Cursed Blade
Draw a cursed sword that can deflect enemy attacks. Repeated deflections reveal blade, enabling powerful attacks with the living sword. Cannot run while at ready with enchanted blade.
- This skill is renamed "Suncatcher" after completion of the Executor's Remembrance quests, implying that's the real name of the Cursed Sword.
- This skill has no cooldown. The Character Skill input toggles between the Executor's normal weaponry and his Cursed Sword.
- Drawing or sheathing the Cursed Sword does not count as switching weapons.
- With the Cursed Sword drawn, the Executor can deflect attacks using the Guard button with precise timing, but he is forced to walking speed, cannot run and his dodge roll is replaced with a short dash with 8 invincibility frames (as opposed to the usual 13).
- Successfully-timed deflects are indicated with an orange spark and a distinct clang. Deflecting attacks this way consumes far less stamina than a normal guard and inflicts stance damage to the attacker. Guard Counters can also be performed after a successful deflect.
- Rapid-fire multi-hit attacks can all be deflected by timing the deflect with the first hit and holding down the guard button.
- If the Executor is attacked during the moment he is drawing or sheathing his Cursed Sword, this also counts as a deflect. All frames of the sheathing or unsheathing animation will trigger successful deflects.
- Deflecting is distinct from Parrying and will not trigger passive effects dependent on parries. Deflecting counts as successful guarding and will trigger passive effects dependent on guards.
- Running out of stamina while performing a successful deflect will not put the Executor in a guard-broken state.
- The Cursed Sword deals standard damage, does not inflict any ailments, and does not benefit from any katana-based effects. The weapon skill is a unique dashing slash that costs no FP.
- The Cursed Sword's damage scales with the Executor's level and Dexterity. It also benefits from "Improved Melee Attack Power".
- After three successful deflects, the Cursed Sword will begin to glow. In this state, attacks with it deal increased damage, and the weapon skill is greatly empowered, at the cost of expending the charge.
- The Cursed Sword's charge is preserved even if the Executor switches away from it or dies.
- The dashing slash, both charged and uncharged, benefits from "Improved Skill Attack Power".
Ultimate Art: Aspects of the Crucible: Beast
Assume the form of the primordial beast. Use unique attacks in beast form that drain the Ultimate Art gauge. Activate again to quickly undo the transformation.
- Fully restores the Executor's HP while doubling maximum HP. The transformation sequence also involves a damaging roar that strikes all nearby enemies.
- Upon transforming the Ultimate Art Gauge is not fully depleted, and the small remaining Gauge will slowly drain over 15 seconds while the transformation is in effect. Pressing the Ultimate Art input can cancel the transformation to conserve Gauge.
- Damage from attacks done during the transformation scale with the Executor's level.
- While transformed:
- Light Attacks become a 4-hit swinging combo move and ends with a slam.
- Heavy Attacks become a 3-hit combo move that also ends with a slam.
- Guard triggers a roar that has a wide area of effect.
- Weapon skill causes the Executor to rear up and perform a large claw swipe that also cancels his transformation.
- The transformed Executor has a large hitbox that makes him vulnerable to wide-area enemy attacks. He can also be posture broken, causing him to stagger. If his HP is depleted, his transformation is immediately canceled and he is put to a near-death state.

Chapter 1
Mine flesh, partially plated.
Mine hand, with brush.
A window into oneself.
Brushstrokes outline
these fragments of memory.
Chapter 2
The Erdtree
I am an artist.
From the distant Land of Reeds,
washed up on the shore,
inspired by what I saw.
But the piece is incomplete.
Something is missing.
Chapter 3
Flowers
An embracing warmth
from the flowers, the same flowers
that grew in my painter's shed.
I am an artist, painting the Erdtree.
I am a guest, bearing a sword.
I am silent, I am a witness.
Chapter 4
The Guest
I am a guest.
Or perhaps, an executioner.
The guest speaks.
"I will wait
until your Erdtree is complete."
Chapter 5
Old Friend
"The Erdtree" was still incomplete,
and so I drew a sketch, in solace.
Of an old friend from the Land of Reeds,
who speaks not a word.
I will entrust it to my guest.
I cannot complete "The Erdtree"
before another executioner
arrives in the first one's stead.
Chapter 6
The Crucible Knight
A portrait of my guest,
or perhaps, my executioner.
A crucible holds a composite.
My guest could not bear
to render a judgment.
Here at the painter's shed,
overlooking the Erdtree.
Until the very end.
Chapter 7
The Executor
Two faces, one sword.
Such is my nature.
A soul drenched in blood.
Yet willing to face the Night.
And perhaps
when the Night has passed.
I will complete "The Erdtree."
Trivia
- Two of Executor's garbs reference past material from the DARK SOULS series.
