Great champion, would you allow me to hold you, but briefly?
Perhaps you might share with me some of your lifely vigour, and your stout-heartedness.
Doing so will grant me the warmth of a champion.- Fia, Deathbed Companion
about the process of adding a new champion.
Throughout her life as a Deathbed Companion and her embraces of many, Fia has accumulated small fragments of vigor from a litany of champions, so that their collective warmth may bring fallen exalted nobles or other people of importance back from the dead. These phantoms are the manifestation of those fragments and can be summoned by Fia even if the original champion they're sourced from is dead.
Upon arriving to the Prince of Dead's throne at Deeproot Depths, a Fia's Champion will invade the player. When defeated, a spectre of Sorcerer Rogier is summoned. Once he is felled two more "Fia's Champions" spawn, together with Lionel the Lionhearted.
Similar to the Knight of the Great Jar NPC enemies in Caelid, the three nameless NPC enemies are based on the character builds of other players. If playing offline, the default champions will appear.
If playing online, this champion will be replaced by a randomly selected player's character.
