Greatsword of the Fire Knights. A long, slender blade that undulates like fire.

Blessed with a flame incantation. Further flame imbuement will amplify the effect and greatly increase the armament's power.

Drop: Shadow Keep, Church District / Specimen Storehouse (Shadow Keep)

  • 4% drop chance from greatsword-wielding Fire Knights.
    • One such knight can be found just before the elevator leading up to the Storehouse, First Floor Site of Grace. If the elevator is taken from the Grace the knight will start with its back turned, making it easier to defeat.

Notes Notes

  • As the description states, though the total Attack Power with the Flame Art Affinity is about on par with other Colossal Swords the distribution is different, with the Fire Attack Power making up about 70% of the total Attack Power instead of the usual 55%.
    • It also notably has the highest Holy Attack Power with the Sacred Affinity, though the also high total Attack Power is somewhat misleading since it includes its there-mediocre Fire Attack Power which will be harshly affected by enemy Defence.
    • This benefit is also there with the Fire Affinity, if with a much weaker benefit: the total Attack Power, though good, isn't higher than other Colossal Swords and the distribution difference is only 55% compared to total Attack Power whereas the other weapons in its Class usually have about 50% of the total Attack Power.
  • Has unique one- and two-handed heavy attacks and charged heavy attacks, where the first attack in each two-attack chain is replaced by a thrust. This trait is shared with the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword SOTE.png, Moonrithyll's Knight Sword SOTE.png, Troll Knight's Sword, and Zweihander.
    • This gives the weapon the versatility of having a thrust attack besides the crouching light attack.
  • Has unique one- and two-handed light attacks, which are more sweeping. This trait is shared with the Godslayer's Greatsword.
    • These attacks grant much more progress towards the Winged Sword Insignias' damage buff, giving 14 points per hit instead of the usual 8 per hit.
    • The first two attacks in both the one-handed and two-handed attack chains inflict less stagger on enemies, staggering for only about 75% of the time a Colossal Sword's light attack would normally and placing it on par with a Greatsword. Stance damage is not affected.
  • Fairly good reach, about on par with the Zweihander.
  • There is a bug, where using the Magic, Cold, Lightning, or Sacred Affinities with this weapon prevents the usual on-hit effect from dealing Fire damage from taking place. This means that using any of those Affinities means that the weapon won't stun Fingercreepers, won't detonate red barrels, and won't remove fully applied Frostbite from targets.
  • Leans towards Dexterity for Cold and Blood/Poison affinities.

Patch Official notes Community Notes
1.12.3
(Bug fix)
Fixed a bug where the damage animation of some attacks of the Fire Knight's Greatsword against players was different than expected. Lowered the damage level of the light attacks from 3 to 2 for the first two hits, putting it in line with the Godslayer's Greatsword.
This removed the true combo for its light attacks, where hitting with one would stun an enemy players long enough to be hit with the second, which is normally not possible with Colossal Swords.

Trivia

  • This is one of the weapons where the Affinity prefix gets placed in the middle of the weapon name (between "Fire Knight's" and "Greatsword" in this case) instead of at the front.
