Furious Blade of Ansbach is an incantation spell in Shadow of the Erdtree. It is one of the Blood Oath Incantations.

Description

Incantation of Ansbach, Pureblood Knight.

Produces a bloodflame blade from the side of the hand, then lunges at enemies to cleave through them. Charge to increase the number of slashes.

Markedly different from the finessed swordplay of the dynast, this is an aggressive last resort of an incantation that gave rise to Ansbach's fearsome reputation.

Acquisition

Loot: Enir-Ilim

Effect

User dashes forward slightly before slashing twice in wide arcs with a bloodflame dagger to deal Fire damage equal to 97% of Incantation Scaling twice, before a wave of fire follows the path of the last slash to deal another burst of Fire damage equal to 154% of Incantation Scaling.

For the charged version, there are now three dagger slashes that deal damage equal to 98% of Incantation Scaling and the final burst deals damage equal to 163% of Incantation Scaling.

Each hit of the spell applies a bloodflame effect that inflicts 60 Blood Loss build-up over 2 seconds (180 in total if uncharged, 240 in total if charged).

Notes

  • Costs FP 18 points of FP to cast.
  • Costs Stamina 21 points of Stamina to cast. This cost increases to 27 points if charged.
  • Requires 1 Memory Slot.
  • Deals 13 Stance damage. This increases to 18 damage if charged.
    • The dagger hits deal 5 Stance damage per hit and the final burst deals 3 Stance damage.
  • The bloodflame effect actually inflicts 3 Blood Loss build-up per 0.1 seconds for 2 seconds.

Boosting

  • Lord of Blood's Exultation: Boosts weapon and spell damage by 20% when blood loss occurs nearby.
  • Sacred Bloody Flesh: Consumable; grants an 18% boost to weapon damage when blood loss occurs nearby. SOTE
  • White Mask: Adds an additional 10% boost to weapon and spell damage when blood loss occurs nearby.
  • Damage is boosted by 15% by the Godfrey Icon when charged.
    • Since the damage of the dagger slashes already are increased by 1% the total increase is 16% for them, while the final burst has its damage increase by 6% and thus gets a total increase of 22%.

Strategies

  • Since all of the Blood Loss comes from bloodflame effects the build-up doesn't scale with Arcane, even if the Dragon Communion Seal is used.
  • For context, most enemies have a default resistance to Blood Loss of roughly 400 to 500, meaning the uncharged spell's build-up of 180 will most likely cause the Status Effect in 3 casts and the charged version's build-up of 240 will usually cause it within 2-3 casts, provided that each cast is done somewhat quickly after the previous one.
  • The full Blood Loss is applied even if all attacks hit the same target because the ticks from the bloodflame effect can stack if hitting an enemy multiple times.

Trivia

  • The figure in the icon wears Ansbach's Set.
  • This spell is used by Sir Ansbach.
