Version 1.11
Game Version 1.11 was an update that never released publicly. It is the patch that was distributed to game journalists and internet content creators so that they could make reviews for Shadow of the Erdtree in time for its public launch.
Differences from later versions
This update never got any officially released patch notes from neither FromSoftware or Bandai Namco. However many reviewers made note of the Final Boss being significantly more difficult compared to the publicly released version, due to it having higher damage across the board along with one of its attack strings having such long hit-stun on each hit that once one attack in the string connected with the player then the entire rest of the string was guaranteed to land as well.
Map Changes
It is also notable for having a different map design compared to the publicly released version. Here are some of the more prominent features unique to 1.11's map:
- A completely different Scadutree design at the top of the map. Unlike the retail version, the tree is drawn from a top-down perspective, just like the rest of the map's geography. Water-ripples can be seen surrounding the base of the trunks, showcasing where and how the tree emerges from the ocean-surface.
- The clouds surrounding the borders of the map are a completely different design. Generally being brighter and more resembling to how the clouds are drawn on the map of the Lands Between.
- Less defined shadows next to mountains and in valleys, making changes in elevation less clear.
- The water of the ocean are a little brighter.
- There are additional illustrations of boats in the sea.
- The rock formations in the ocean (and the shorelines around them) are larger and more defined, similar to how the mainland's shorelines have been drawn.
- The top of the Jagged Peak have no clouds obscuring its crater, making the Rest of the Dread Dragon fully visible.
- Finger Ruins of Rhia, Finger Ruins of Dheo and the Abyssal Woods have less fog obscuring them.
- The Jagged Peak is surrounded by fewer of its large, sharp rock-formations.
- The water in the moats of the Shadow Keep are darker.
- The northwestern corners of the black wall next to the Scadutree Chalice do not have highlights.
- Some of the Fingerstones in the Finger Ruins of Rhia and Fingerstone Hill are in different positions and are less defined.
- Rabbath's Rise and the Northern Nameless Mausoleum are less defined from their surroundings, being colored the same as the surrounding earth.
- One tent is missing in the military encampment southwest of the Shadow Keep Main Gate.
- Fewer illustrated ruins and tree roots in the eastern half of the Ancient Ruins of Rauh.
- The temple housing the Divine Beast Dancing Lion of Rauh Ruins is missing the large hole in the ceiling.
