The Golden Hippopotamus is an optional boss in Shadow of the Erdtree. It is encountered at the Shadow Keep.

Background

Hippopotami are giant quadrupeds that live near bodies of water. Several can be found in the Realm of Shadow. One particular specimen in the Shadow Keep, called the Golden Hippopotamus, can grow thorn-like fur on its back; a vestige of the vitality of the Crucible which flourished before the land was enshrouded in shadow.[1]

Appearance

A hungry, hungry hippo. It is much larger than the standard variants.

Boss Fight

Located in the Shadow Keep.

Moveset

It has many area-of-effect abilities, but it is lumbering and slow. It plays like the Ulcerated Tree Spirits.

Phase Two

It will grow thorn-like fur on its back when injured by half of its HP.
