A somber plain covered in spiritgraves. The spiral tower of the Hornsent lies to the northwest, and the entire expanse is marred by the harrowing ravages of war.

Map: Gravesite Plain

Gravesite Plain SOTE.png is a region in the Realm of Shadow.

Description

A vast sepulchral plain scattered with scorched ruins and ethereal spiritgraves, located in the south of the Realm of Shadow. The spiral tower of the Hornsent lies to the north-west of the region.[1] The Gravesite Plain borders Scadu Altus to its east and the Land of the Tower to its west. The region is strewn with blackened ruins of the tower-folk, burned in the Crusade by the people of the Erdtree. The soldiers of Messmer the Impaler's army maintain a presence around the Church of Consolation, but are for the most part confined to the northern rim of the Ellac River canyon.

On the southern shore of the region, the Cerulean Coast and Charo's Hidden Grave are scattered with luminous flowers, massive stone coffins, and spirit worms. Farther to their east towers the Jagged Peak, looming over the Finger Ruins of Rhia and the craggy foot of the mountain.

Also known as the land of spiritgraves, the Gravesite Plain is home to many forms of the deceased.[2] Shadow undead wander the ruins of Hornsent villages and towns, and a ghostflame dragon resides close to the Abandoned Ailing Village. The gravestones in the region are so old that many of them have turned to spirits and begun to fade away.[3] The gravesites are populated by gravebirds, ancient golems constructed to guard the spiritgraves.[4]

The plain itself is primarily vegetated by spiritgrave grass, which grows from the berry-like Rada Fruit.[5] These bitter fruits can be used in the fermenting recipes of the Forager Brood and, in raisin form, serve as a spiritually-enhancing medicine.[6][7] Like the rest of the Realm of Shadow, mushrooms of the Whiteflesh and Redflesh varieties can also be found throughout, serving as a useful material for stuffing Hefty Cracked Pots.[8][9] The plain is always at least partially overcast and experiences frequent rainstorms.
