The knights of Leyndell once modelled themselves after the Tree Sentinels. Their purpose is to protect that which deserves protection, and thus the shield always comes before the sword.
Decreases Stamina damage taken from attacks when Guarding by 20%.
Notes
Since the decrease to Stamina damage when guarding is a percentage of the Stamina damage otherwise taken it sees diminishing returns when paired with equipment with high Guard Boost, such as Greatshields.
Effectively increases Guard Boost by an amount equal to 100 subtracted by the equipment's actual boost and then divided by 5 (i.e. 100-(Guard Boost/5)).
For a piece of equipment with 40 Guard Boost wearing this talisman would effectively give it 40 + ((100-40)/5) = 40 + 12 = 52 Guard Boost. For comparison, something with 60 Guard Boost would effectively get 60 + ((100-60)/5) = 68 Guard Boost and something with 80 Guard Boost would effectively get 80 + ((100-80)/5) = 84 Guard Boost.
Before Patch 1.04 this talisman could bring the then-not-yet-nerfed Fingerprint Stone Shield to 100 Guard Boost, decreasing Stamina damage taken to 0 and making it near impossible to deal with unless using anti-block weapons such as Reapers or the Shotel, skills such as Piercing Fang and Impaling Thrust, or by managing to circle around the shield-wielder for a Backstab.
The effects of the Greatshield Talisman and Hammer Talisman have been increased.
The effect was actually reworked. The effect of the Greatshield Talisman went from a 10% increase to Guard Boost to a 20% decrease to Stamina damage taken while guarding.
Decreased the effect of Greatshield Talisman for weapons with high block rate.
While all other pieces of equipment received a 10% increase to Guard Boost, this update made it so that Greatshields received a lesser increase to Guard Boost.
