Groveside Cave is a dungeon in ELDEN RING (2022).

Overview

Groveside Cave is located a bit west of the road going north near the Church of Elleh. It appears that an encampment was erected inside the cave, however presently it is home only to a pack of wolves and a Beastman from Farum Azula. The cave consists of a narrow passageway which opens into a wider cavern containing a small pool, which in turn leads into another cavern where the Beastman dwells.

Sites of Grace

Found just inside the cave.

Walkthrough

Preparations

The inside is fairly dark overall, except for the boss arena and the small campfire near the first wolves, so bringing either a Torch from Merchant Kalé or the Lantern from the Isolated Merchant in westernmost Weeping Peninsula helps with visibility. All attacks by enemies deal Physical damage, so protecting yourselves against that damage type is ideal.

From Grace to boss

After entering the cave, take a left from the Site of Grace into a dark tunnel. At the end is a ledge looking over a lit campfire, with 3 Wolves (one hidden beneath the ledge) and 1 White Wolf (with about 5 times as much health as the regular Wolves) nearby, and a path to the right leading directly to the boss. The wolves can jump up onto the ledge if alerted, and can also be drawn back to the starting tunnel if the numbers get overwhelming. Under the ledge itself is a Cracked Pot.

Past the bonfire, or left of the path directly to the boss is a small pool of water with 2 Wolves as well as two bodies, one with 3 Glowstones and another with a Golden Rune 1. The pool also contains 5 respawning Silver Fireflies, useful for crafting Silver-Pickled Fowl Feet. There are also a few patches of Cave Moss scattered about throughout the cave.

The Beastman of Farum Azula is a fairly weak boss, but since it's encountered early on so will you most likely also be. The biggest dangers in this fight is getting caught in its attack combo or getting hit by its long, lunging stab. Its attacks are generally hard to block, especially the attack combo and the two-handed overhead slam. It's generally pretty mediocre at closing the distance so having any kind of Spirit Ash or using its attack time to gain distance can let you pelt it from afar. Since it's weak to Fire damage, some crafted Fire Pots can be useful to hit it safely with during its attack combo. Jumping attacks are another good way to approach the boss just as it has finished an attack.

A small portal out appears after the boss has been defeated, signified by a small, spindly white light in the back of the cave arena and beside one of the tents.
