Jar-Bairn is an NPC in ELDEN RING (2022).
Overview
Jar-Bairn is a young Living Jar who lives in the secluded village of Jarburg in Liurnia of the Lakes. Like his uncle Alexander, he is a warrior jar[1], and strives to become a champion just like Alexander.[2]
Presently, however, he is on the lookout for a new Potentate for the village. He meets the Tarnished when they pay a visit to Jarburg, but determines that they are not suited to be the new Potentate due to their rough hands.[3] Nevertheless, he welcomes them to the village and invites them to come back and pick the flowers growing in the village whenever they want.[4] He also warns the Tarnished of poachers who hunt and destroy other living jars.[5]
Eventually, Jar-Bairn finds a new Potentate in Diallos Hoslow, a former Recusant who abandoned Volcano Manor after giving up on his path of revenge.[6] Despite his disappointment that Diallos is not as strong as the Tarnished, he admires his smooth hands.[7]
Not long after Diallos becomes Potentate, Jarburg is beset by poachers. Diallos defends the village and fights off the attackers, but many of the jars are broken[8] and Diallos himself succumbs to his wounds. Jar-Bairn vows to become a warrior like Diallos, so that he can protect everybody.[9] The Tarnished, having fought and defeated Alexander, offers the young jar his innards, which he uses to become even stronger, deciding to leave the village in search of glory, like his uncle.[10]

Questline Progression
- Jarburg
- Jar-Bairn can be found sitting in front of a house north-west of the Site of Grace. Exhaust his dialogue and decide whether or not to accept his request- the decision does not affect the rest of the questline. After resting at a Site of Grace, speak to him again to exhaust his new dialogue.
- Jarburg
- If you have met Alexander, Warrior Jar, Jar-Bairn will have new dialogue after you rest at a Site of Grace again.
- Jarburg
- After reloading the area, speak to him again to receive dialogue about poachers. This dialogue becomes available after Knight Diallos has arrived at Volcano Manor.
- Jarburg
- After Knight Diallos has left Volcano Manor, return to Jarburg and speak to Jar-Bairn again.
- Jarburg
- Reload the area six times and speak to Jar-Bairn near the middle of the village. Speak to Diallos and then reload the area and speak to Jar-Bairn once more.
- Jarburg
- After defeating Alexander, Warrior Jar in Crumbling Farum Azula, return to Jarburg and give Jar-Bairn Alexander's Innards. Reload the area, and speak to Jar-Bairn again to receive his final dialogue.
Notes
- Jar-Bairn was added to the game as part of Update 1.03. Prior to this, Diallos's questline did not have a conclusion and Alexander's Innards served no purpose.
