Medium Shields

Medium Shields are a type of shield in ELDEN RING ⁽²⁰²²⁾.

Compared to Small Shields, Medium Shields are far more suited for blocking attacks as they have higher Guard Boost and Damage Negations on average.

On the flipside, Medium Shields weigh more and are worse at parrying than Small Shields, as they possess less active frames on their parries and have more recovery time.

There are four (but essentially three) types of shields in the game: wooden/leather, heater, and kite. Wooden and leather shields always have the lowest possible stat requirements to wield it (8 Strength) and are the lightest of all Medium Shields at the cost of lacking 100% Physical Damage Negation and the lowest Guard Boost. Heater shields need more Strength to wield but have 100% Damage Negation, middling weight and average Guard Boost. Kite shields have all the benefits of heather shields on top of the higher Guard Boost, but need more Strength wield and weigh more.
