Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame is an optional boss in Shadow of the Erdtree.
Overview
Long ago, the great Sage Midra attempted to become a Lord of Frenzied Flame. However, he was too weak and failed.[1] Pierced by the branching thorns of the Greatsword of Damnation, his power was suppressed by the hornsent.[2][3][4] Midra's Manse and the dark lands of the Abyssal Woods were forbidden by the Hornsent.[5] It is said the eyes of those who served the sage were burned by the Frenzied Flame of madness.[6][7] Midra lingered on in perpetual suffering at the behest of his beloved Nanaya.[8][9]
Eventually, a Tarnished Champion entered Midra's manse to explore and loot it. Midra repeatedly tried to warn the Tarnished to leave, but his pleas went unheeded. Upon the Tarnished coming upon Midra's chambers, Midra chastised the Tarnished for their foolishness before attacking them, only be brutally beaten and subdued. Finally, Midra could endure his pain no more. He pulls the sword out through his head and decapitates himself. Then, he manifests as the Lord of Frenzied Flame. The branching arms of the sword coil tightly around its central needle.[4]

The barbed spear went through his eye and replaced his spine.[10] He is in a lot of pain; poor guy looks like a Christmas tree. He rips his own head off by pulling out the spear. He gains a fireball head and the barbs coil around the spear to make a sword.
