Sentient Pest (Everdark Sovereign) is the enhanced version of Gnoster, Wisdom of Night.
Behavior
The fight starts with both parts of Gnoster coming together to fight as one. The scorpion will roar to mark the target of the stampede attack, which is what they will open the fight with. Both moth and scorpion have combined HP that is actually lower than their regular version.
After emptying this first health bar, a third combatant, Animus, Ascendant Light, will appear, and revive both Gnoster (moth) and Faurtis (scorpion) with a quarter of their health. Gnoster and Faurtis act independently as if they were in phase 1 of their regular fight. Animus becomes the new objective of the fight, but cannot be attacked or targeted while both Gnoster and Faurtis are alive. Depleting all of Animus's HP will end the fight and instantly kill Gnoster and Faurtis.
When either Gnoster or Faurtis dies, Animus will hover over them before possessing and reviving them. During this moment, Animus becomes vulnerable to attacks.
- While possessing Gnoster or Faurtis, any damage dealt to its host also damages Animus. This includes any damage from ailment inflictions.
- Possessed Faurtis stomps ground for an area-of-effect attack that also has a delayed explosion. It also takes 75% less damage.
- Possessed Gnoster fires twelve faster magic projectiles in two consecutive bursts of six. Its poison mist also covers a wider area. It still burns over 15 seconds when it takes fire damage.
- When its host is killed, Animus will split away from it, hover over the battlefield for a few seconds, and then aim to revive its next host. This can include the host that just died.
- If Animus is possessing Gnoster or Faurtis for 55 seconds and its host is not killed, it will unleash a new strong move before its host tires out and Animus separates.
- Possessed Faurtis signals its attack with a damaging roar before slamming the ground in random directions. After five ground slams, it roars once again, performs one last stronger ground slam, before slumping to the ground.
- Possessed Gnoster signals its attack by firing a barrage of projectiles into the air. Gnoster will then start fluttering in the sky erratically, showering the entire team in orange magic projectiles. At the end of this attack, Gnoster will crash to the ground.
If Animus has remained separate from Gnoster or Faurtis for 55 seconds, it will unleash its own ultimate move where it twirls, fires off a circle of projectiles into the sky, which then strike the team in the form of red laser beams. Animus is vulnerable to damage when it is executing this attack.
Strategy
- The pests can be damaged when they are being revived, so simply hit them as soon as you see that their health bar is going up (they are immobile so it's free damage).
- Animus can be briefly damaged when he is trying to possess any corpse. He has no resistances, so attack with anything.
- Focus on only one of the pests. Dividing damage is usually useless in this fight.
- Faurtis and Gnosters will have the same resistances and weaknesses during all of the fight. Focus on the one that you are dealing the most damage to.
Notes
- Bug: Animus can get stuck underground or outside the battlefield indefinitely, trapping the players in a fight they cannot progress. This would be patched on July 4th 2025.
