Item(s)The Will of Balance

The Salvation's Standard-Bearers, a.k.a. Everdark Balancers, are the enhanced version of Weapon-Bequeathed Harmonia.

Behavior

Phase 1

The first phase of the Standard-Bearers functions identical to the original fight. However, once all seven Balancers are defeated for the first time, one of the Balancers will get up, begin screaming, and tearing away at her face. This causes blood to spout everywhere and coat the view of the players, signalling the change of phase.

Phase 2

The land is coated in blood, as are the Standard-Bearers. They move in a more jittery manner, screaming and flailing about unlike the more dignified manner of their original counterparts. Once any of the Balancers begins engaging a target, they attack far more aggressively.

If a player suffers from blood loss in this phase, they will lose 50% of their max health and briefly continue to take periodical damage over time.

After any one Standard-Bearer is defeated, a short timer will tick down, eventually resurrecting that Standard-Bearer with a permanent 7% attack buff. This will persist throughout the fight and can stack with repeated resurrections.

At 80%, 50%, and 20% HP, they merge into a giant worm that erupts from the ground. The worm will lash and thrash about, causing shockwaves and creating exploding buds that inflict blood loss buildup. At the end of its attack pattern, it pauses in place and telegraphs a giant explosion that deals massive damage and inflicts a large surge of blood loss. The worm then dissipates and a new wave of Balancers appear to continue the fight.

If, past the 20% HP part, the worm has not been summoned for 2 minutes, the Standard-Bearers will disappear to re-merge into the giant worm and repeat its attack pattern.

Strategy

General Strategy

  • The individual Standard-Bearers can all be parried, making them easy to deal with once you have mastered the parry timings.
  • Each Standard-Bearer also has very low poise, so attacking with heavy weaponry can stagger them and interrupt their attack combos.
  • Coordinate with the team to split up the groups. They are much easier to deal with individually, as most of the punishment will come from the other Standard-Bearers attacking from directions you're not facing.

Phase 2

  • Start the fight by running away from the Standard-Bearers as fast as you can. At any point in the fight only two Standard-Bearers out of seven (one, in single player) will lock onto each players while the rest of the group will be more passive. This helps separate the active fighters from the rest of the group and minimize the activity in the fight.
  • For either of the Standard-Bearers' swipe-flurries, roll forward into them at the start of the attack sequence, and most of the attack will miss you and fail to course-correct. Rolling backwards leads to them easily roll-catching you.
  • Dodge the grabs the moment you see the Standard-Bearer's left arm extend upward.
  • The Standard-Bearers' screams cause blood loss buildup to anyone nearby, so keep your distance. They will also transition into any of their attacks after a scream.
  • If the Standard-Bearers do a jumping triple-ground slam, stay close to them as you dodge each slam, as the third slam always has a blind spot in the angel's vicinity. If you spot a nearby Standard-Bearer doing this to a teammate, keep in mind your spacing and the incoming AOE.
  • While Sleep can shut down a member of the pack, their prolonged attack animations can make it seem that Sleep will not take effect until they finish. If you see a Sleep proc, refrain from attacking (which will break the ailment) until you have confirmed the Standard-Bearer is put to sleep.
  • Shockwaves from the worm's ground dive or weapon swings can be jumped over.
  • When the worm comes to a stop, attack it from multiple angles to destroy the blood clots on its belly. These will contribute to both damage and stance damage. Either empty the worm's health or stance-break to interrupt its bloom attack. Failing that, run very far away to exit its range.

Character Selection

  • Scholar:
    • + His Ultimate Art causes all damage dealt to a single Standard-Bearer to be replicated across every living Standard-Bearer. This rapidly depletes their health bar.
  • Executor:
    • + Can hit multiple targets at once with the damaging roar from his transformation Ultimate, and the roaring attack while transformed. Roaring can also stun the individual Standard-Bearers.
    • + Can effectively engage each Standard-Bearer one-on-one with deflections.
  • Wylder:
    • + Starts with a Buckler that will be useful in Parrying the Standard-Bearers.
  • Duchess:
    • + Use her Ultimate Art to break aggro if the team is getting overwhelmed.

Trivia

  • The Salvation's Standard-Bearers go by a different title than the Everdark Sovereigns, even though they are functionally identical. Also, their unique Relic is titled "The Will of Balance" deviating from the "Dark Night of the [X]" that every other Everdark Relic follows.
