Maris, Fathom of Night, also called Augur, is a boss in Elden Ring: Nightreign and one of the Nightlords.

Overview

A strange creature with an oceanic theme, Maris floats around the arena with ocean-them adds that appear during her fight.

Her boss arena is unique and simulates a place beneath the ocean surface.

Lore

For the first time in its existence, the drifting ancient being realized its interest had been piqued.

Indeed, it had been roused from its aimless life of floating, camouflaged within its surroundings.

The strange taste of this night was all too lonely, and more vast than it could ever know.

Strategy

Prioritize characters who have ranged attacks. If a character is melee, try to get a bow.

Defeating the flying Jellyfish will damage Maris, so any AOE damage is effective. Using the Executor's shout in his Ultimate Art is extremnely effective at defeating several Jellyfishes at once, delaing massive damage to Maris.

During day 1 and 2 of the expedition, there will be more sleep camps than usual. Try to stack up in Stimulating Boluses that are common inside the crates of Sleep camps.

Everdark Sovereign

Main article: Nightreign:Augur (Everdark Sovereign)

Expedition Raid

Maris will announce her presence by creating giant bubbles that slowly descend on the players. Anyone caught in the bubble will be forced into her arena. Distant players can avoid it, but can also join the fight by approaching the bubble where she is fighting the rest of the party.

Those in the bubble are restricted to the small area and have to defeat a weakened version of Maris. She will use her dive and wave attacks, but will not generate any additional enemies.

Defeating Maris will bestow the party with a buff that allows their healing flasks to also refill FP in addition to HP.

Notes

  • Maris' internal name is "Abstract Existence".
  • Maris' Everdark fight features a weapon similar in use and look to the Dark Souls III's weapon called Storm Ruler, which is used against Yhorm the Giant.
