Old Knight Istvan

Old Knight Istvan is a co-operator and a hostile NPC in ELDEN RING ⁽²⁰²²⁾.

Overview

Istvan is one of the few surviving wizened Tarnished. He wields a Dismounter with Gravitas, and is clad in corroded metal armour reinforced with rock-hard scales. At some point, Istvan became a target for the Recusants of Volcano Manor.

Questline Progression

1. Limgrave (Coastal Cave)
   • (Optional) Istvan can be summoned to aid you against the two Demi-Human Chiefs and their small army.
2. Mt. Gelmir (Volcano Manor)
   • Talk to Tanith, Volcano Manor Proprietress selecting Join Volcano Manor to receive the Drawing-Room Key that opens the doors to the eastern quarter of the manor, where the is found. Upon collecting it, you'll be tasked with hunting down Istvan and the position of his invasion sign will be marked in red on the map.
   • Once the Old Knight is defeated, awarding you with armor, return to Tanith to receive Magma Shot and collect the second to progress her questline.

Notes

• If Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy is defeated prior to Istvan, the task can still be completed and Tanith's reward will be placed in the spot of the Letter from Volcano Manor, but the following letter and and the Red Letter won't appear afterwards.
