Parrying Dagger is a dagger in ELDEN RING ⁽²⁰²²⁾.

Description

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇯🇵

A knife with curved handguards. Designed to parry, turning foes' attacks against them.

For masters of combat who anticipate every enemy strike and counter accordingly, this weapon is all they need.

Acquisition

• 1 can be bought from Patches for 1,600 Runes in any of his locations (Murkwater Cave is the earliest).

Notes

• The second strongest of all the regular non-Wakizashi daggers on a Keen or Quality affinity, after the Celebrant's Sickle and Bloodstained Dagger respectively.
  • Despite this its Keen affinity actually gives it slightly weaker Dexterity-scaling for "bullet"-type (i.e. doesn't scale directly with the used weapon's damage) Skills with a Keen, Quality, Lightning, or Cold affinity, giving them usually about 2% less damage than they otherwise would have. This includes, as an example, the skills Beast's Roar, Storm Blade, Thunderbolt, and Hoarfrost Stomp (these skills however perform as normal on any affinity besides Keen).
  • Otherwise pretty mediocre damage-wise, with a leaning towards Dexterity on most of its affinities.
• Having Parry as its skill gives early access to Parrying without having to buy Ash of War: Parry from Knight Bernahl or venture out of Limgrave and the Weeping Peninsula. It is however outclassed slightly by any Small Shield with the skill, especially the also-available-early Buckler.
  • Decent off-hand weapon for those wishing to dual-wield daggers.

Upgrade Information

• Upgraded with regular Smithing Stones.
• Can have its Affinity and Skill changed.
• All non-physical Affinities lower all types of guarded damage negation by 5%, except for the associated element where the damage negation increases by 25% and another element also increases by 15%.
  • Magic negation receives the secondary 15% negation bonus on Sacred and Cold affinities, Fire negation gets the increase on Lightning affinity, Lightning negation gets the increase on Fire and Flame Art affinities, and Holy negation gets the increase on Magic affinity.
• The upper number in the Atk column denotes Physical base damage while the lower, colored number in the Atk column denotes elemental base damage: red for Fire damage, yellow for Lightning damage, orange for Holy damage, and cyan for Magic damage.
