Rotten Crystal Sword is a straight sword found in ELDEN RING ⁽²⁰²²⁾.

Description

Sword fashioned from pure crystal; a deed impossible for a human. It festers with scarlet rot.

Enwreathed with powerful magic, its attack scales with intelligence.

Acquisition

In a treasure chest guarded by three Crystalians in Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree, behind some large tree roots right after the Ephael Inner Wall grace.

Notes

• Effectively just the Crystal Sword but with slight Scarlet Rot build-up, much, much later acquisition, and lower damage from very slightly lower Strength-scaling and lower Physical and Magic base damage.
• The skill, Spinning Slash, is potentially quite damaging, especially if it catches another player offguard and with low Poise, though it's somewhat hampered by the lack of reach on Straight Swords.
• Does best as a pure Strength weapon, as Dexterity and Intelligence are somewhat hampered by having much lower scaling numbers and being based off the lower Magic base damage respectively.
  • For comparison (unmentioned stats are at the minimum required level): 80 Strength grants 625 Attack Power (AP), 45 Strength and 45 Intelligence grants 607 AP, 45 Strength and 45 Dexterity grants 599 AP, and 80 Intelligence grants 540 AP.
  • Has on average 25 less AP
• A good offhand weapon for those wishing to dual-wield Straight Swords on a Strength build with some Intelligence, due to the ease of upgrading weapons reliant on Somber Smithing Stones and its somewhat mediocre skill not mattering there.

• Upgraded with Somber Smithing Stones.
• Cannot have its Affinity and Skill changed.
• The upper number in the Atk column denotes Physical base damage while the lower, colored number in the Atk column denotes elemental base damage: red for Fire damage, yellow for Lightning damage, orange for Holy damage, and cyan for Magic damage.
