Map: Scadu Altus

Scadu Altus SOTE.png is a region in the Realm of Shadow.

Overview

A plateau in the center of the Realm of Shadow, occupied by the army of Messmer the Impaler. It was named for its counterpart in the realm of the Erdtree.[1] Messmer's stronghold, the Shadow Keep, lies to the north of the region. In the eastern half of the plateau, the Recluses' River flows from the Castle Watering Hole and empties into the forbidden Abyssal Woods. The Ruins of Unte, the Village of Flies, and Bonny Village can be found along the Recluses' River. Just outside Castle Ensis, the Moorth Highway branches off from the Highroad, running south through the Moorth Ruins and leading to the Fort of Reprimand.

Like its neighbor to the south in the Gravesite Plain, the Scadu Altus is primarily vegetated by spiritgrave grass, which grows from the berry-like Rada Fruit.[2] There are also a few small forests in the region, including the Bear Woods located to the east of the highway junction.

The sky above the Scadu Altus often emits a yellow-green light. Cinders and sparks can be seen in the air; embers of Messmer, symbols of the crusade, can be harvested as they slither across the ground.[3]
