Serosh
Serosh, the Beast Regent is a character in ELDEN RING (2022). He serves as King Godfrey's regent and the counselor of his descendants, and can be encountered alongside his Lord at the foot of the burning Erdtree in Leyndell, Ashen Capital.
Overview
Serosh was a large, golden lion known as the Lord of Beasts.[1] Among the beastmen of Farum Azula, the presence of five fingers was celebrated as a symbol of the intelligence granted to their kind, and the five black nails on the Beastclaw Greathammer are believed to represent Serosh.[1][2]
Serosh was taken upon Godfrey's back when he vowed to become a lord, suppressing his ceaseless lust for battle, and became known as his Beast Regent.[1][3] Serosh went on to serve as a counselor guiding Godfrey's offspring, the Golden Lineage and became a longstanding symbol of the Golden Lineage, representing a bygone era of glory.[4][5] General Radahn, captivated by Godfrey in his youth, wore armor depicting a golden lion, said to symbolize both Godfrey and Serosh.[6]
Serosh remained with Godfrey even after he became Tarnished and was exiled from the Lands Between,[7] and appears to have perished alongside Godfrey in the Badlands.
Following the Shattering, when the Guidance of Grace was restored to the Tarnished, Serosh returned to the Lands Between alongside Godfrey. At the foot of the burning Erdtree, the former Elden Lord was confronted by a Tarnished. During the battle, Serosh began to take on a more tangible form, seemingly preparing to play active role in the fight. However, Godfrey stopped Serosh, thanked him for his service, before killing him. Covered in the blood of his former regent, Godfrey discarded his axe and continued to fight as Hoarah Loux before being defeated.

As a lion, the hair on Serosh's face, upper arms and torso are a dark gray color, while the long fur on his mane and forearms are a silvery white. He has silver-colored plate-mail on his chest and shoulders, with matching sharp-tipped gauntlets covering his five-fingered hands.
The skin on his snout and lips are both colored black and his face is covered in scars, the most notable ones crossing over his perpetually closed eyes; potentially indicating blindness. The largest having cleaved through the left side of his silver crown, before continuing down-right of his forehead and over his right eye before ending at the bottom his right cheek.
While mounted on Godfrey's back, Serosh's body appears translucent, and the lower half of his body is not visible.

Notes
- Serosh is often shown with his teeth sinking into Godfrey's arm or torso. This may be a means of keeping Godfrey's lust for battle in check.
