Serpent-Hunter is a melee armament in ELDEN RING ⁽²⁰²²⁾.

Description

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Weapon that serves as both greatsword and spear. Thought to have been used to hunt an immortal great serpent in the distant past, it manifests a long blade of light when facing such a creature.

When their master's heroic aspirations degenerated into mere greed, his men searched for a weapon with which they might halt their lord.

Unique Skill : Great-Serpent Hunt

Perform a powerful forward lunge and follow up with an upward thrust via additional input. When fighting a great serpent, a long blade of light will appear, revealing the armament's true power.

Acquisition

• Mt. Gelmir (Volcano Manor)

Loot: Can be picked up within the boss arena of Praetor Rykard.

This item does not re-spawn when the player has one in either their inventory or chest, even in NG+. However it will re-spawn (and thus can be picked up again) from the same location should the player discard it. This is to make sure that the player always have the means of fighting Rykard with it.
Because of this safeguard it is still possible to obtain duplicates of this weapon:

• Requirements:
  • The player needs to not have a copy of it in their inventory.
  • Rykard needs to still be alive.
  • The game needs to be in online-mode.
• 1) Stand outside Rykard's arena and attempt to connect to another player's world through any means necessary.
  (Tarnished's Furled Finger, Duelist's Furled Finger, Bloody Finger, Recusant Finger, Festering Bloody Finger or Blue Cipher Ring)
• 2) When the game has successfully found a world it can try to connect to, enter Rykard's arena and pick up the Serpent-Hunter before the Loading Screen appears.
• 3) Leave the multiplayer session either by completing your objective or using the Finger Severer.
• 4) When you re-spawn back in your own world, do not fast travel or rest at the Sites of Grace, instead enter Rykard's arena again and you'll see the Serpent Hunter is still there, available to be picked up again for a second time.
  (Traveling or resting at the site of grace will make the game check if the Serpent-Hunter is in your inventory before it decides if it'll spawn in a new one for you to pick up)
• It's possible to obtain even more copies of this weapon if the player simply loops back to step 1 after finishing step 3.

Trivia

• The Serpent Hunter strongly resembles the Dragonslayer Swordspear, a weapon used by The Nameless King in FromSoftware’s previous game Dark Souls III.
• The shape of the weapon's blade resembles the Karasawa laser rifle from FromSoftware's mecha series Armored Core.
