Skill: Poisonous Mist is a Skill in ELDEN RING (2022).

Bathe armament in poison, and then slash, spreading toxic mist forwards. The armament retains its poison for a while.

  • Can be granted to any infusable melee weapon or Thrusting Shield (except for Throwing Blades, Backhand Blades, fist-sized weapons, Whips, and Perfume Bottles) with the Ash of War: Poisonous Mist.

Effect Effect

The user braces themselves and readies the weapon, slathering it in a poisonous essence that grants a 40-second Weapon Buff that adds Poison 60 points of base Poison build-up to the weapon. Afterwards, the user performs a horizontal slash and unleashes a poisonous mist that lasts for 4 seconds. The slash deals 170% of the weapon's Attack Power and inflicts 100% of the weapon's Status Effect build-up, while the poisonous mist inflicts Poison 120 points of base Poison build-up per tick every 0.7 seconds (720 base Poison build-up in total from the mist).

This skill has heavy Hyper Armor.

If performing without the sufficient FP FP or stat requirements, the user will simply perform a horizontal slash that deals only 100% of the weapon's Attack Power. No Weapon Buff is granted, and no poisonous mist is unleashed.

Frame data

The slash happens on frame 35/1.17 seconds in followed by the mist on frame 36/1.20 seconds in. The entire skill takes 58 frames/1.93 seconds to perform.

The Hyper Armor lasts from frame 11/0.37 seconds in until frame 61/2.03 seconds in.

Notes Notes

  • Slathering the weapon costs FP 14 FP per use.
  • Unleashing the poisonous mist costs Stamina 30 Stamina to perform.
  • The horizontal slash deals Stamina 200% of the weapon's base Stamina damage against guarded enemies, while the poisonous mist deals Stamina 0 points of Stamina damage against guarded enemies per tick.
    • In PvP, the horizontal slash deals Stamina 250% of the weapon's base Stamina damage against guarded players, while the poisonous mist deals Stamina 0 points of Stamina damage against guarded players per tick.
  • The horizontal slash deals 200% of the weapon's base Stance damage, while the poisonous mist deals 0 points of Stance damage per tick.
    • Daggers: The horizontal slash deals 6 points of Stance damage.
    • Thrusting Swords: The horizontal slash deals 8 points of Stance damage.
    • Straight Swords, Curved Swords, Katanas, Twinblades, Axes, Spears, Halberds, and Reapers: The horizontal slash deals 10 points of Stance damage.
    • Light Greatswords SOTE, Greatswords, Heavy Thrusting Swords, Curved Greatswords, Great Katanas SOTE, Greataxes, Great Spears, and Thrusting Shields SOTE: The horizontal slash deals 11 points of Stance damage.
    • Colossal Swords, Flails, and axe-type Colossal Weapons: The horizontal slash deals 12 points of Stance damage.
    • Hammers: The horizontal slash deals 13 points of Stance damage.
    • Great Hammers: The horizontal slash deals 14 points of Stance damage.
    • Hammer-type Colossal Weapons: The horizontal slash deals 15 points of Stance damage.
      • In PvP, the horizontal slash deals Poise 540% of the weapon's base Poise damage, while the poisonous mist deals Poise 0 points of Poise damage per tick.
  • The horizontal slash has a Damage Level value of 2 (Moderate Stagger), while the poisonous mist has a Damage Level value of 0 (No Stagger).
  • The mist's base Poison build-up scales with user Arcane.
    • Arcane-scaling for the mist is the largely the same across the board, except for the Poison and Blood Affinities which slightly lower the scaling.
      • Any non-Poison, non-Blood Affinity and 20, 45, or 80 Arcane grants the mist 70 build-up for the first two ticks and 139 build-up per tick for the remaining five (835 build-up in total), 77 build-up for the first two ticks and 154 build-up per tick for the remaining five (924 build-up in total), or 85 build-up for the first two ticks and 169 build-up per tick for the remaining five (1,015 build-up in total) respectively, and Poison and Blood Affinities and 30 or 45 Arcane grants the mist 71 build-up for the first two ticks and 141 build-up per tick for the remaining five (847 build-up in total) or 75 build-up for the first two ticks and 149 build-up per tick for the remaining five (895 build-up in total) respectively.
  • The Weapon Buff's base Poison build-up scales with the weapon's Arcane-scaling.
    • As most weapons don't have any Arcane-scaling, generally only weapons with a Poison, Blood, or Occult Affinity will scale the build-up of the Weapon Buff.
      • At maximum upgrade level a Poison or Blood Affinity and 30 or 45 Arcane grants the Weapon Buff 72 build-up or 77 build-up respectively, while an Occult Affinity grants the Weapon Buff varying amounts of build-up depending on the scaling: a B-scaling grants 94 to 113 build-up at 45 Arcane and 109 to 136 build-up at 80 Arcane, and an A-scaling grants 113 to 126 build-up at 45 Arcane and 136 to 155 build-up at 80 Arcane.
  • The Physical damage type of the slash is the same as the weapon's primary Physical damage type.
  • The mist inflicts an intermediary version of Poison, dealing damage equal to (0.1% of target's maximum HP + 8) per second for 90 seconds (9.0% of target's maximum HP + 720 in total).
    • The weapon inflicts the regular version of Poison, dealing damage equal to (0.97% of target's maximum HP + 7) per second for 90 seconds (6.3% of target's maximum HP + 630 in total).
