Effect Effect

The user holds their weapon close and level to the ground while pointed forward, assuming a combative stance. As a result, the user's movement speed decreases to a slow walk, and their Stamina Stamina regeneration speed is greatly decreased.

Inputting light attack has the user step forward and perform a guard-breaking upward slash, dealing 200% of the weapon's Attack Power.

Inputting strong attack has the user slightly duck under and perform a powerful running upward thrust, dealing 240% of the weapon's Attack Power.

If performing without the sufficient FP FP or stat requirements, the light follow-up attack deals only 120% of the weapon's Attack Power, and the strong follow-up attack deals only 155% of the weapon's Attack Power.

Boosting

Strategies

  • This is an extremely strong skill in PvE, primarily due to how quick and damaging the heavy attack follow-up is and due to it dealing 40 Stance damage, on par with a Great Hammer's charged heavy attack, and thus being able to break most enemies' Stance in 2-3 hits.
  • The light attack follow-up is good at breaking the Guard of blocking opponents, due to its 700% Stamina Attack Power multiplier resulting in at least 630 Stamina Attack Power before Guard Boost.
  • The Stance can be cancelled without using a follow-up attack.

Trivia

  • One of the returning skills from DARK SOULS III, where it was the Weapon Art of the Shortsword, the Longsword, the Broadsword, the Broken Straight Sword, the Astora Straight Sword, the Lothric Knight Sword, the Barbed Straight Sword, the Irithyll Straight Sword, Anri's Straight Sword, the Morion Blade, the Claymore, the Hollowslayer Greatsword, the Flamberge, and the Drakeblood Greatsword, where it was known as Stance.
    • Stance could be found on Greatswords in DARK SOULS III, and was also a slower, more powerful variant.
