Effect Effect

The user sheathes their weapon and holds it at the hip, assuming a calm and composed stance. As a result, the user's movement speed decreases to a slow walk, and their Stamina Stamina regeneration speed is greatly decreased.

Inputting light attack has the user quickly draw their sword and perform a swift horizontal slash, dealing 190% of the weapon's Attack Power.

Inputting strong attack has the user quickly draw their sword and perform a strong overhead strike, dealing 245% of the weapon's Attack Power.

If performing without the sufficient FP FP or stat requirements, the light follow-up attack deals only 115% of the weapon's Attack Power, and the strong follow-up attack deals only 135% of the weapon's Attack Power.

Boosting

Strategies

  • This is an extremely strong skill in PvE, primarily due to how quick and damaging the heavy attack follow-up is and due to it dealing 30 Stance damage, on par with a charged heavy attack, and thus being able to break most enemies' Stance in 3-4 hits.
  • The Stance can be cancelled without using a follow-up attack.
  • In PvP, this can be a powerful tool as way to maintain aggression through roll catches, as well as a devastating heal punish.

Trivia

  • The successor to the Hold Weapon Art from DARK SOULS III, with significant differences.
    • The light attack follow-up of Unsheathe is significantly faster than the light attack follow-up of Hold, but has a slightly altered animation.
      • It more closely resembles an unused animation of the Frayed Blade version of Hold.
    • The heavy attack follow-up of Unsheathe is no longer a parry. It is now a powerful overhead strike, similar to the light attack follow-up of the Frayed Blade version of Hold.
