Ashes
Ashes, also called Spirit Ashes or Ashen Remains, are items in ELDEN RING (2022) that allow the player to summon spirits that can fight alongside them.
How to Use Ashes
To summon spirits one must have the Spirit Calling Bell and be within the radius of a Rebirth Monument, then use the wanted ash directly from the inventory. Most ashes need FP or HP to summon, and you can only have one ash summoned at a time.
Each Ash can be upgraded to a maximum of +10 by Roderika using either Grave Glovewort (Ashes and Warrior & Militiamen Ashes) or Ghost Glovewort (Special Ashes and Puppets).
Statistics
Upgrading a Spirit Ash improves its HP, Stamina, flat Defense (though not the percentual Damage Negation), and Attack Power multiplier.
They are all immune to Blood Loss and Frostbite, all except the Land Squirt Ashes are immune to Poison and Scarlet Rot, about a quarter are immune to Sleep, and the Mimic Tear Ashes is the only Spirit Ash that isn't immune to Madness and Death Blight, in addition to its Sleep vulnerability.
Rebirth Monuments
Rebirth Monuments are small obelisks that appear across the land. They are needed to summon spirits ashes and their presence is notified in the screen with an icon. They are frequently found close to boss fights or dense clusters of enemies.
