St. Trina is an enigmatic figure. Some say she is a comely young girl, others are sure he is a boy. The only certainty is that their appearance was as sudden as their disappearance.

St. Trina is an NPC in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

Overview

St. Trina is an enigmatic and fleeting individual who is said to appear in dreams.[1] While they are generally thought to be a young girl or boy, St. Trina is sometimes depicted in an adult form that is said to be unnerving to look at.[2]

Trina has attracted a following of priests rumored to use sleep-inducing arrows for ritual purposes.[3] A man was once so utterly captivated by St. Trina that he was said to have searched for her in his sleep. This obsession led to the creation of numerous remedies for invoking dreams.[4]

Trina's Lily is seen as a symbol of faith in the saint, and it is used to dull the senses and prevent agitation.[5]

St. Trina is the other half of Miquella discarded along his path through the Land of Shadow.[6] She lies at the bottom of the Stone Coffin Fissure, within the Garden of Deep Purple. Despite her abandonment, Trina's love for Miquella remained boundless.[7] For this reason, she wished for Miquella to be killed[8], for she knew that his godhood would be his prison.[9]

St. Trina appears as a slumbering child with flowing violet hair swaddled within the nurturing petals of a motherly purple flower. Drinking its nectar will surely bring eternal sleep.

Notes

  • Dolores the Sleeping Arrow utilises St. Trina's Arrows in combat, possibly suggesting that she is one of his followers.
  • The Putrescent Knight became devoted to St. Trina after imbibing her nectar.[10]
  • Prior to the release of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree there were several hints that Miquella and St. Trina were closely related:
    • Both St. Trina and Miquella are typically characterised as children and are both associated with water lilies.
    • Fevor's cookbooks were made by a devout of St. Trina, containing crafting recipes related to her powers of slumber. One of them contains the recipe for the Bewitching Branch, an item originating from Miquella, blessed with an incantation of Unalloyed Gold.
    • The area in Altus Plateau where the Amber Starlight is found is internally referred to as "St. Trina's Hideaway", and it has a statue of Miquella and his twin, Malenia.
    • The Albinauric archers in the Consecrated Snowfield, who guard the approach to Miquella's Haligtree, drop St. Trina's Arrows, and have lily motifs on their armor.
    • The Cleanrot Knights, who serve Malenia, Blade of Miquella, have a chance to drop both Miquella's Lily and Trina's Lily.

Cut Content

  • Several forms of cut content for St. Trina exist revolving around the removed dreambrew mechanic and collection of slumber fog with a tool referred to as St Trina's Crystal Ball.
    • In one version, Trina is referred to as St. Trina of the Cradlesong and is implied to have granted succour to frenzied merchants by singing a lullaby to help them sleep.[11]
    • In another version, there is a cut NPC called Rhico gives a quest to create Dreambrew, and after finding his way to Mohgwyn Palace and Miquella's cocoon, his dialogue explicitly reveals St. Trina was to be the same as Miquella.
