Sword Lance is a melee armament in Shadow of the Erdtree.

Weapon once wielded by Commander Gaius. A combination of greatsword and lance.

Weighty and capable of being brought to bear with great force, this armament shows its true potential when used astride a mount. Gaius himself was never without his boar.

Acquisition

Trade: Finger Reader Enia

• Can be obtained after trading Remembrance of the Wild Boar Rider with Finger Reader Enia at Roundtable Hold.
  • Alternatively, use one of the Wandering Mausoleums to duplicate one (can only obtain one per playthrough using either method).
  • Comes pre-equipped with the Ash of War: Spinning Gravity Thrust and Standard Affinity on it.

Notes

• The Sword Lance has the standard light attacks shared by all Heavy Thrusting Swords, however, all the heavy attacks are shared with the Lance, including the Guard Counter.
  • Due to this, the Sword Lance does not have a feint attack like the other Heavy Thrusting Swords as the Great Spear moveset does not have access to those.
• The Sword Lance receives an Attack Power boost of 6.4%, 3.7%, and 8.8% respectively with its light attacks, heavy attacks, and charged heavy attacks while riding Torrent, compared to other Heavy Thrusting Swords.
• With Heavy Affinity this weapon has a combination of high base Attack Power and very high Strength-scaling, giving it extremely high total Attack Power. This in fact slightly outclasses its Fire Affinity which also has its total Attack Power split between two damage types.
  • Compared to other Heavy Thrusting Swords it has roughly 20% higher Attack Power with Heavy Affinity, and between 4% and 8% more Attack Power than any Fire Affinity Heavy Thrusting Sword (including itself).
• When infused with Cold, Blood, or Poison, the Sword Lance will have much higher status build-up values of those in the same weapon class all while keeping respectable Strength-scaling. When combined with the pre-equipped skill, Spinning Gravity Thrust, the Sword Lance is capable of inflicting status aliments quickly and consistently.
  • More specifically, the Status Effect build-up is on par with a Colossal Sword's build-up.
• Notably weaker with the Sacred and Flame Art Affinities, as it has comparatively much stronger Strength-scaling but 30% weaker Faith-scaling. This is just enough to make it the weakest Heavy Thrusting Sword on these Affinities.
• The Sword Lance is the only Legendary armament that can be infused with Ashes of War, be buffed by spells or consumables, and is upgraded by regular Smithing Stones.
  • Despite having Legendary status, it is NOT required for the Legendary Armaments trophy and achievement.
