The Shaded Castle

The Shaded Castle is a dungeon in Elden Ring.

Overview

A derelict castle sinking into a poisonous mire in the north of Altus Plateau. For generations, the Shaded Castle was ruled over by House Marais, who served as both executioners and castellans.^[1] Maleigh Marais, born sickly like all sons of House Marais, became beguiled by Malenia^[2], claiming to feel her presence when he held the Valkyrie's Prosthesis^[3]

Elemer of the Briar, an infamous killer of instructors and merchants^[4], was held in the castle for execution. However, he managed to steal the executioner's sword of House Marais and furnished it with the battle skills of his home of Eochaid, thus avoiding execution.^[5] Elemer succeeded in taking over the castle, bringing about the ruin of House Marais.^[6] Maleigh Marais can be found wandering the craggy wasteland to the west of the castle.

Sites of Grace

Found on the south-eastern ramparts, near the entrance to the castle.

Found below a portcullis on the southern wall of the main keep.

Found in the boss room. Appears after defeating Elemer of the Briar.
