Thops's Barrier is a sorcery in ELDEN RING ⁽²⁰²²⁾. It is one of the Glintstone sorceries.

Description

The lifelong pursuit of Thops the Bluntstone.

Creates a magic forcefield that deflects sorceries and incantations. Hold to continuously create barriers.

Future generations will learn. They will know the foolishness of the sneering sorcerers who ridiculed this theory, little realizing that it was in fact a discovery worthy of a new conspectus of the academy.

Acquisition

Quest Item / Loot: Academy of Raya Lucaria

• Acquired from the body of Thops located outside the Schoolhouse Classroom after giving him the spare Academy Glintstone Key.

Effect

The caster raises the staff up into the air and generates a magic forcefield that deflects both Sorceries and Incantations with a slight flourish. Holding down the input repeats this action for an indefinite amount of time.

Notes

• Uniquely, this spell can still be held even when all FP has been depleted.
• Deflects spells to the side of the caster.
• Can deflect allied projectiles.

Strategies

• Even at maximum casting speed, this spell is still relatively slow and telegraphed, so choose wisely when to cast this spell.
• Exercise caution when facing opponents with explosive spells, such as Giantsflame Take Thee and Cannon of Haima. Even though these spell have been deflected, they are still capable of dealing damage to you, and often times it would be a better option to dodge them.
• When facing off against the Elden Beast, Thops' Barrier can be extremely useful in dealing with Elden Stars.
