Turtles are wildlife enemies in ELDEN RING (2022). They are non-hostile and will withdraw into their shells when antagonized.
Background
Turtles held deep symbolic significance to those who dwelled in the Lands Between.[1] They were considered wise beasts that possessed boundless stamina and power. Two-headed turtles were prized by the hornsent who saw their intertwining necks as a reflection of the sacred spiral.[2]
In the southern regions, turtle neck meat was considered a highly nutritious delicacy.[3] Their flesh was often prepared in medicinal solutions by nomadic peoples or pungently pickled by the forager brood.[4][5] However, these practices were by some considered an act of barbarism,[1] given the reverence of turtles.
Characteristics
Turtles in the Realm of Shadow are wizened and covered in long strands of hair. A modest outcrop of horns grows on the wrinkled heads. In contrast, the common turtles of the Lands Between are reddish and experienced no sprouting.
When attacked, turtles retreat into their protective shells. The natural roundness of their shell acts as a shield to deflect most enemy attacks.[6]
