Sheathe blade, holding it at the hip in a composed stance. Follow up with either a normal or a strong attack to draw the blade at great speed for an instant slash attack. Both attacks fire off a wave of light.
The user sheathes the blade and holds it at the hip, assuming a calm and composed stance. As a result, the user's movement speed decreases to a slow walk, and their Stamina regeneration speed is greatly decreased.
Inputting light attack has the user quickly draw their sword and perform a swift horizontal slash, as well as firing off a high speed wave of light that travels a short distance. The slash hits with 50% of the weapon's Attack Power, while the wave of light has 140 base Magic Attack Power.
Inputting strong attack has the user quickly draw their sword and perform a strong overhead strike, as well as firing of a high speed wave of light that travels a long distance. The slash hits with 55% of the weapon's Attack Power, while the wave of light has 155 base Magic Attack Power.
If performing without the sufficient FP or stat requirements, the follow-up attacks no longer fire off waves of light. As a result, the light attack follow-up deals only 115% of the weapon's Attack Power, and the strong attack follow-up deals only 135% of the weapon's Attack Power.
Frame Data
After the stance begins, the light attack follow-up becomes available after 7 frames/0.23 seconds and the heavy attack follow-up becomes available after 9 frames/0.30 seconds. The stance can be canceled after 20 frames/0.67 seconds have passed (immediately if it has been held longer than that and no follow-up is in use).
For the first light attack follow-up, the slash happens on frame 14/0.47 seconds in, with the magic wave launching on the same frame. This part of the skill ends after 31 frames/1.03 seconds.
For the heavy attack follow-up, the strike happens on frame 16/0.53 seconds in, followed by the magic wave launching one frame later. This part of the skill ends after 37 frames/1.23 seconds.
The light attack follow-up costs 35 Stamina per use.
The heavy attack follow-up costs 35 Stamina per use.
The base Magic Attack Power of the magic projectiles scale with user Intelligence and weapon upgrade level.
The scaling is greatly increased by Moonveil's default Intelligence-scaling.
The Attack Power (AP) for the light attack follow-up's magic projectile is always at least 560 for a weapon at maximum upgrade level, while for the heavy attack follow-up's projectile it's always at least 620 for the same situation.
At +10 and with 23 Intelligence the magic wave's Attack Power is 821 for the light attack version and 908 for the heavy attack version, with 45 Intelligence it's 1004 AP and 1111 AP respectively, and with 80 Intelligence it's 1135 AP and 1257 AP respectively.
The light attack follow-up slash deals 100% of the weapon's base Stamina damage against guarded enemies, while the wave of light deals 200 base Stamina damage against guarded enemies. The heavy attack follow-up deals 100% of the weapon's base Stamina damage against guarded enemies while the wave of light deals 200 base Stamina damage against guarded enemies.
In PvP, the light attack follow-up slash deals 125% of the weapon's base Stamina damage against guarded players, while the wave of light deals 250 base Stamina damage against guarded players. The heavy attack follow-up deals 125% of the weapon's base Stamina damage against guarded players while the wave of light deals 250 base Stamina damage against guarded players.
The light attack follow-up slash deals 450% of the weapon's base Stance damage, while the wave of light deals 100% of the weapon's base Stance damage. The heavy attack follow-up deals 450% of the weapon's base Stance damage, while the wave of light deals 150% of the weapon's base Stance damage.
As Moonveil is a Katana the light attack follow-up deals 22.5 Stance damage with the slash and 5 Stance damage with the wave of light, while the heavy attack follow-up deals 22.5 Stance damage with the slash and 7.5 Stance damage with the wave of light.
In PvP, the light attack follow-up deals 1215% of the weapon's base Poise damage, while the wave of light deals 270% of the weapon's base Poise damage. The heavy attack follow-up deals 1215% of the weapon's base Poise damage, while the wave of light deals 405% of the weapon's base Poise damage.
The light attack follow-up slash has a Damage Level value of 2 (Moderate Stagger) while the wave of light has a Damage Level value of 3 (Heavy Stagger). The heavy attack follow-up slash has a Damage Level value of 3 (Heavy Stagger), while the wave of light has a Damage Level value of 3 (Heavy Stagger).
Boosting
Each piece of the Spellblade's Set boosts Magic Attack Power of all attacks by an additional 2%, adding up to a total of 8%.
Rellana's Cameo grants a 45% boost to Attack Power to the follow-up attacks if the Stance is held for at least a second.
The Warrior Jar Shard and the Shard of Alexander cannot be stacked together.
Strategies
This is an extremely strong skill in PvE, primarily because it inherits most of the benefits of Unsheathe with the additional benefit of firing a high speed projectile, though this is somewhat balanced with the bulk of the Stance damage dealt by the melee slashes.
As such, the most optimal usage of this skill is at close range, though the waves of light make this skill serviceable at medium range.
One notable difference is that the light attack follow-up deals almost as much Stance damage as the heavy attack follow-up one, which can be useful if it's difficult to hit with the latter.
The light attack follow-up can combo into a regular, non-skill light attack or a heavy attack.
The Stance can be cancelled without using a follow-up attack, either by letting go of the skill button or by performing another action.
In PvP, this can be a powerful tool as way to maintain aggression through roll catches, as well as a devastating heal punish.
Transient Moonlight has the additional benefit of firing a high speed projectile, making it possible to punish from afar with its heavy attack follow-up.
The heavy attack follow-up does often deal significantly less damage against jumping players for some unknown reason, which can be annoying.
Increased poise damage of the weapon slash part of the Transient Moonlight Weapon Art, and reduced the poise damage of the magic wave.
The weapon's base Stance damage of the light attack follow-up slash was increased from 300% to 450%, while the weapon's base Stance damage of the wave of light was decreased from 250% to 100%
The weapon's Stance damage of the heavy attack follow-up slash was increased from 350% to 450%, while the weapon's base Stance damage of the wave of light was decreased from 250% to 150%
