The Visage Shield is a shield found in ELDEN RING ⁽²⁰²²⁾.

Tricksome bronze shield depicting the face of a Fire Giant. Several tongues leap from its open mouth.

The dreadful visage and burning flames are designed to remind one of the horror of facing a Fire Giant. In other words, this shield has an instructional function.

Acquisition

Loot: Caelem Ruins ^(Caelid)

• It can be found in northeast Caelid, in a chest that's accessible after defeating the Mad Pumpkin Head Duo boss in the Caelem Ruins.

Notes

• The Unique Skill: Tongues of Fire is a short-ranged flamethrower that simultaneously keeps the shield's Guard up.
  • It's a decent weapon at melee range, especially if a target gets staggered or starts to panic rather than counterattacking (as the Guard Boost is reduced when using the skill).
  • The damage scales with only the Greatshield's upgrade level.
• This Greatshield has above average non-Physical Guard Damage Negations, in addition to its 100% Physical Guard Damage Negation, with its Fire Guard Damage Negation being especially high.
• This Shield has the third highest Guard Boost of all Greatshields, making it stand up quite well to repeated attacks, even more so if Shield Grease or Scholar's Shield has been used.
  • Do note that its Guard Boost is greatly decreased while using the Skill, rendering the user quite vulnerable to Guard Breaks if the opponent is willing to ignore the damage they are taking and simply attack through the flames.

Trivia

• This is one of only two non-DLC Greatshields, along with the One-Eyed Shield, that didn't have its Guard Boost altered by Patch 1.03.
