Warhawk's Talon is a straight sword found in ELDEN RING (2022).

ER Custom Icon Description.png Description

Talon-swords are affixed to the legs of Stormveil's warhawks, but this one has been repurposed for human use.

The blade is thin and lightweight so as not to obstruct the hawk's mobility.

Drop: Stormveil Castle / Castle Sol (Mountaintops of the Giants)

  • 2% drop chance from Warhawks.
  • 4 of these birds can be found on the walls outside of the Rampart Tower Site of Grace.

Notes Notes

  • The skill, Spinning Slash, is potentially quite damaging, especially if it catches another player offguard and with low Poise, though it's somewhat hampered by the lack of reach on Straight Swords.
  • Strong leaning towards Dexterity, with damage barely lagging behind the Broadsword and Longsword on a Keen affinity.
    • Despite this its Keen affinity actually gives it slightly weaker Dexterity-scaling for "bullet"-type (i.e. doesn't scale directly with the used weapon's damage) Skills with a Keen, Quality, Lightning, or Cold affinity, giving them usually about 2% less damage than they otherwise would have. This includes, as an example, the skills Beast's Roar, Storm Blade, Thunderbolt, and Hoarfrost Stomp (these skills however perform as normal on any affinity besides Keen).
  • Has unique heavy attacks that hit twice, lending this weapon fairly well to the Status Effects of the Blood and Cold affinities.
    • Note that while the first heavy attack in the chain will always hit twice, charged or not, the second one will only hit twice if charged, and once if not.
    • This unique attack grants 18 points when one-handed and 22 points when two-handed towards the scaling of the Winged Sword Insignias instead of the usual 10 and 14 respectively, due to hitting twice.
      • As the first tier of each Insignia requires at least 17 points to reach, either version of the attack will grants the damage bonus if both hits land.
      • The first hit in the double-swipe grants 8 points while the second hits grants 10 or 14 points respectively.

ER Main Menu Icon Blacksmith.png Upgrade Information

  • Upgraded with regular Smithing Stones.
  • Can have its Affinity and Skill changed.
  • All non-physical Affinities lower all types of guarded damage negation by 5%, except for the associated element where the damage negation increases by 25% and another element also increases by 15%.
    • Magic negation receives the secondary 15% negation bonus on Sacred and Cold affinities, Fire negation gets the increase on Lightning affinity, Lightning negation gets the increase on Fire and Flame Art affinities, and Holy negation gets the increase on Magic affinity.
  • The upper number in the Atk column denotes Physical base damage while the lower, colored number in the Atk column denotes elemental base damage: red for Fire damage, yellow for Lightning damage, orange for Holy damage, and cyan for Magic damage.
  • See the Weapon Scaling page for what the scaling values mean.

Trivia

  • Identical base damage and scaling values to the Noble's Slender Sword if on a Keen, Fire, or Lightning affinity.
  • This is one of the weapons where the Affinity prefix gets placed in the middle of the weapon name (between "Warhawk's" and "Talon" in this case) instead of at the front.
