A talisman depicting a raised prosthetic blade. An honor bestowed upon the knights who fought alongside Malenia the Severed. Raises attack power with successive attacks.
The wings symbolize Malenia and her undefeated prowess. Though she never knew relief from the accursed rot she was born into, her blade was forever beautiful - and relentless.
Dropped by the Cleanrot Knight boss found at the bottom of Stillwater Cave.
Effect
Grants a bonus to damage upon attaining a certain amount of "points" from landing melee weapon attacks and certain spells: gaining 17/30/45/60 points increases Attack Power by 3%/5%/10%/10%. 1 point is lost every 0.5/1.0/0.7/0.4 seconds that has passed since a point has been gained.
In general, light attacks increase the tier for every 3 hits landed while heavy attacks increase the tier for every 1.5 hits landed (rounded up).
Point gain from melee weapon attacks is largely independent of weapon class and gives points at most once per attack: most weapons gain 8 points per light attack of any kind (including dual wield attacks), 10 points per heavy attack or jumping heavy attack, and 14 points per charged heavy attack or guard counter.
Multi-attacks can gain points once for each separate attack: as an example, the two-handed light attacks of Claws hit twice and as such give 6+6=12 points if both hits land.
Some exceptions: Fire Knight's Greatsword and Godslayer's Greatsword gain 14 points per light attack, the Ruins Greatsword gain 20 points per charged heavy attack, Claws of Night and Smithscript Cirque gain 0 points per heavy attack of any kind, any Fists weapon gains 8 points per two-handed light attack (16 points in total, since it hits twice) if they deal Strike damage, and Great Spears gain only 6 points for each of the first two hits of running heavy attacks and 10 for the final hit.
Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike (melee range hit only) gains 20 points, Aspects of the Crucible: Tail gains 16 points for the first hit and 18 points for the second hit, Aspects of the Crucible: Horns gains 16 points (18 points if charged), Bayle's Flame Lightning (melee hit only) gains 16 points, Black Blade (melee hit only) gains 18 points, Dragonclaw gains 16 points, Dragonmaw gains 20 points, Fortissax's Lightning Spear (melee range hit only) gains 20 points (40 if both hit, Furious Blade of Ansbach (melee range hit only) gains 8 points per hit, Lansseax's Glaive (melee hit only) gains 20 points, and Scarlet Aeonia (initial landing only) gains 2 points.
At some point between an unknown Patch and Patch 1.03.3, this talisman was apparently bugged, with the buff that is applied to attack power both increasing and decreasing with successive attacks. That is, in some scenarios, performing an additional attack within a sequence would cause attack power to decrease, rather than increase. This could be observed when using the Dagger and Short Sword weapons. This effect could be observed for the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia as well.
